Alaska Highway 75th Anniversary Celebration

  • BP Energy Center 900 East Benson Boulevard Anchorage, AK, 99508 United States

The Alaska Highway Celebration Committee is marking the 75th Anniversary of the historic meeting in 1942 of the bulldozer from the 97th Engineers (an African-American unit) with the bulldozer from the 18th Engineers (a Caucasian unit) which signified the completion of the Alaska Highway.  The success of African-American engineers in building a large portion of the Alaska Highway is a little known piece of Alaskan history that we would love to share with a wider audience.

Come learn more about Alaskan history on the 26th in preparation for the 75th Anniversary event on Monday, June 5th.  The celebration starts at 11 am on the first floor of the Sunshine Mall at 333 W 4th Avenue.
