Alaska Highway Celebration Committee work session

  • BP Energy Center 900 East Benson Boulevard Anchorage, AK, 99508 United States (map)

The Alaska Highway Project is forming an Alaska Highway Celebration Committee in preparation of the 75th Anniversary of the historic meeting in 1942 of the bulldozer from the 97th Engineers (an African-American unit) with the bulldozer from the 18th Engineers (a Caucasian unit) which signified the completion of the Alaska Highway.  The success of African-American engineers in building a large portion of the Alaska Highway is a little known piece of Alaskan history that we would love to share with a wider audience.

Volunteers are needed in the areas of veterans, fundraising, grant writing, media, advertising, documenting, and others to be decided.
